Progressively Sized, Silicone Vaginal Dilators

Soul Source Progressively Sized, Silicone Vaginal Dilators have been designed for dilation therapy in the treatment of vaginismus and related conditions. Our dilators are made of silicone rubber making them resilient, able to retain body heat, and easy to care for. They are comfortable to use as the silicone texture resembles body tissue. Soul Source dilators come in eight graduated sizes, ranging in size from approximately 1/2” x 2 1/2” (smallest) to 1 5/8” x 6” (largest).  The smallest dilator is about the size of junior-sized tampon. These dilators are designed to be used in progressive vaginal dilation therapy, a therapeutic process involving the careful, comfortable and slow insertion of dilators into the vagina. Generally, women begin the therapeutic process using the smallest dilator and increase the size of the dilator over time. Through a process of bio-feedback (an awareness that the dilator was successfully inserted and comfortably remains within the vagina without pain) women gain confidence that vaginal penetration is possible and satisfying.

About Vaginismus (and Related Conditions)
Vaginismus is the involuntary spasm of muscles of the pelvic floor which surround the vagina. Spasms can be so severe that the vagina closes making vaginal penetration (i.e., tampon insertion, a pelvic exam or sexual intercourse) extremely painful and difficult. The causes of vaginismus are varied but most clinicians believe it has both a physical and emotional component. Progressive vaginal dilation therapy, guided with instruction from a health care professional, is often highly successful in treating vaginismus. Progressive vaginal dilation therapy is also effectively used in treating genital pain conditions, vulvodynia and Mullerian abnormalities. In addition, the dilators have been successfully used in addressing post-surgical vaginal swelling and the effects of radiation therapy.

GRS Vaginal Dilators

Soul Source GRS Dilators were developed for dilation therapy to maintain the vaginal integrity and depth of neo-vaginas following genital reassignment surgery (GRS). Our GRS dilators are made of polyurethane and are available in four sizes (from 1 1/8” diameter x 9” length to 1 1/2” diameter x 9” length). Developed to the specifications of a leading GRS surgeon, women purchasing GRS dilators should follow the insertion protocols and dilation schedules recommended by their doctors.
